the fourth

the fourth was a bit different this year from the last couple of years.
since it was right in the middle of the week and that's the only day we had off, we decided to stick around here and do our own thing.

the mister was a little skeptical of going to the parade.
me on the other hand - well that's what we did growing up and i wanted the girls to have that experience too.

they loved seeing the horses and i think overall enjoyed it.

we took the girls later in the day to see 'brave.'
good movie and the girls behaved through the whole thing!

then we headed down to if to hang out with connel & laura for a bbq and some fireworks.
the bbq chicken skewers were to.die.for.
so yummy.  i may or may not have eaten too many.

we ended the night with sparklers and then the fireworks - the girls were only slightly interested in the fireworks, but had a fun time running around with their glow-stick wands.

i'm so grateful for those who have sacrificed so much for my freedom!

independence day

the 4th of july isn't quite right around here.
i'm used to breakfast at the church and then going out to the parade.

since we couldn't go to a parade (or breakfast at the church), we started our day out dancing on the table.
okay, maybe just m did.

and then she may or may not have gotten in trouble for unrolling all the paper towels while she was at it.

b helped me make a jello salad for the party we were going to later in the evening.
right after this picture, we moved the pan off of the burner and b got a steam burn.
ouch.

after the mr. got off of work, we headed over the the annual froerer 4th of july party.
this was my second year going, and we had a blast.
there's always good food, good friends, and lots of patriotism.
and of course, fireworks.

my sil got some fireworks for the kiddos.
the mr. had fun lighting them off for them.

the sparklers didn't last too long.
b isn't quite big enough to understand and enjoy them.
and she got burned, again.
never fun.

and then we ended the night with a bang.
the big fireworks.
i'm so grateful that we live in the country that we do and enjoy the freedom's that we enjoy!
