houston

after 3 days
2 hotels
5 states
and several bathroom stops later, we made it to houston.
we've been here for a couple weeks, but i didn't have internet for a while.
okay, i've been lazy too.
it's been hot here (apparently we haven't seen anything yet), and when it rains...it POURS.
i've never seen rain like this before.
i went to walmart one day while it was raining and by the time i was in the store, i was soaking wet.
i figured by the time i was done in walmar it would have calmed down (like when it rains in reno...for a few minutes and then stops), but no....still a huge downpour.

yes, those are cars sticking out the top of the water there. (thanks myfoxhouston.com for the photo)
they actually said on the news that they probably wouldn't have another freak rainstorm like that for a few decades.
the flooding that happened here was apparently worse than when hurricane ike hit the coast here.
so hopefully we won't have any more crazy storms like that while we're here.

this is the floorplan of our apartment.
our apartment is HUGE.
it's a good thing that apx is footing the bill for most of the apartment, because we'd never be able to afford it ourselves.
and the apartments are new.
they are still finishing up a couple of the buildings.

and just to make those of you who don't have a pool jealous.....

yeah...i get to swim in that.
i'm thinking of all of you as i do. :)

the juicy details

so yes, houston is right.
i realized after i had done the post, that the picture was named houston.
yes, dumb. i know.
we're going to houston to work for apx alarm and sell security systems this summer.
we know a few people who have had success with it, and since the mr. will be just out of school with no new prospects of a job, now is the perfect time to try it out.
my wonderful boss is going to let me continue working for him (technology is the BEST!!)
so while the mr. is out going door-to-door, i get to stay at home all the time now with b and work during her naps.
it's definately going to be an adventure, and this will be the longest that i've been that far of a distance away from home.
home being idaho.

in other news, the mr. finishes school in less than a month!
i am thrilled!
so the plan is to take off from reno on the 11th and move all of our things up to oregon (since we won't be coming back to reno after the summer) and spend about a week with his family and then head on down to my parents and spend some time with them before we start the 25 hour drive to houston.
i'm excited to get to spend some time with brothers, sisters, parents, neices, nephews, etc.
i can't wait!

reno friends:  i will miss you guys!
