blog overload

i know i've been on a bit of a blog strike, so i figured i would fix it with a blog overload.

we've been super busy the last few weeks, and i just haven't had time.
we are back in the "promised land" as the mr. calls it, (northern utah, southern idaho, eastern oregon) for hopefully a long time.
so after packing our stuff back up, driving the horribly long drive from houston to idaho, then turning around the next weekend and driving to reno for o's baptism, then driving down to see my parents while the mr. went fishing, we're finally "kinda" settled in.
"kinda" being we're in limbo living in a place that the mr.'s dad rents out while we find a job and a house to rent.
we're not heading anywhere soon....at least not the rest of this week.
next week, my niece gets baptized in rexburg, so we'll be off to that too.

this is the other reason i haven't had time.
see this little mischievous child i get to play with everyday?
during the recent visit to my parents, my mom said that my child is a handful.
for four other grandchildren older than b, my mom has never had to move her magazines.
not only did she have to move her magazines, she had to move the kleenex (which b LOVES to just pull one out after another), hide the remote control, the portable radio and another basket full of things.
yeah....my child gets into everything.
she may look cute and innocent, but she's totally not.

oh yeah, and did i mention this on top of everything else?

memorial day 2009

for memorial day this year, we decided to take a trip to san antonio and go to six flags.
in the middle of the park near the kids rides, they had a little area where the kids could play in the water.
we thought we'd see if b would play in it.
thinking she wouldn't (because she hates to get her face wet in the bathtub) we didn't bother putting her swim suit on her.

we figured this was where it would stop...just looking at the water.

still afraid of the water, uncle j is trying to coax her to play in it.

she found this little water fountain and was quite fond of this one.
she would keep trying to grab the water.

and then, she ran through the water.
face and all.
no regrets.
no crying.
she loved it.
it's a good thing i had an extra pair of clothes for her to put on.

i can't wait to take her swimming some more this summer.
we're going to have a blast!

houston

after 3 days
2 hotels
5 states
and several bathroom stops later, we made it to houston.
we've been here for a couple weeks, but i didn't have internet for a while.
okay, i've been lazy too.
it's been hot here (apparently we haven't seen anything yet), and when it rains...it POURS.
i've never seen rain like this before.
i went to walmart one day while it was raining and by the time i was in the store, i was soaking wet.
i figured by the time i was done in walmar it would have calmed down (like when it rains in reno...for a few minutes and then stops), but no....still a huge downpour.

yes, those are cars sticking out the top of the water there. (thanks myfoxhouston.com for the photo)
they actually said on the news that they probably wouldn't have another freak rainstorm like that for a few decades.
the flooding that happened here was apparently worse than when hurricane ike hit the coast here.
so hopefully we won't have any more crazy storms like that while we're here.

this is the floorplan of our apartment.
our apartment is HUGE.
it's a good thing that apx is footing the bill for most of the apartment, because we'd never be able to afford it ourselves.
and the apartments are new.
they are still finishing up a couple of the buildings.

and just to make those of you who don't have a pool jealous.....

yeah...i get to swim in that.
i'm thinking of all of you as i do. :)
